JACOBS BAKERY IN GOA.....

BREAD!!!!! I LOVE BREAD....

Bread is eaten extensively in Goa , especially for breakfast and also with meals when either chicken or mutton gravy is cooked.
Its called PAV in the local language and comes in various shapes (will make a post on that some time).

As lots of things have changed in India so has the process of making bread.
but some bakeries still retain the charm of baking bread by hand .
now in Goa you have a handful of bakeries which have a traditional oven built in the wall where huge amounts of fresh bread is baked daily.

I was fortunate enough to be able to visit a bakery at Kalapur in Goa , my hubby's cousin Suraj organized my visit to this bakery so that i could click some pictures and share them with you.

SWEET CORN SOUP......

I love sweet corn soup, and always make it when I manage to get some fresh corn from the market. This is a very simple soup to make and requires very less time and ingredients.

INGREDIENTS:
2 fresh corns
1 tsp pepper powder
2 tbsp corn flour.
You can add grated vegetables like carrots, cabbage, beans etc.
You can add boiled and shredded chicken pieces to make sweet corn chicken soup
You can also add a soup cube which is optional

METHOD:

Remove the corn form the kernels and boil.
Take half of the corn and pass it through a blender to form a puree.
Keep the rest of the corn aside.
Take a pan add the crushed corn to it. add enough water to make it of pouring consistency
Add the remaining corn.
Take corn flour in a bowl and add a little water to make a paste.
Add this paste to the corn mixture and stir making sure that it does not stick to the sides of the vessel.
When the mixture becomes opaque add pepper powder and salt.
You can boil the vegetables or chicken separately and add it to the soup,
Hot and nutritious soup is ready to SLURP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

ROADS IN GOA....

A little diversion from the usual cooking scene , i want to share some of the photos which shows you goa in a scenic sense. If you like the photos pls say so as it gives me encouragement to click more and more. pls give me sincere comments i dont mind criticism.

I am fascinated with roads , whenever I go visiting a place the first thing that i start clicking are the roads as that’s the first thing that leads you to the place. Then when I reach the place I again start clicking
I have a strong affinity for roads I feel that as the food and the people are the heart of a place the roads are the veins and the arteries , without which there would be no life in that particular place . only by observing the roads , the way they are maintained, the locals walking, the hawkers selling their goods , the cleanliness, traffic sense the list goes on and on... you can know the place at the first instance.
ROAD GOING THROUGH A VILLAGE IN GOA

I click roads for their scenic beauty too , I would like to share with you some of the roads of Goa which I had clicked last year but were just stored inside...
In May this year, when I was busy clicking the scenic Mountain View and the turns on the ghats, on my way to mahabaleshwar. I slipped and my camera hit my lap , for which I had to pay a large price. Hence I have promised myself to be careful and no go berserk while clicking photos.

HOME COOKED MEAL ON DASSERA.......

HOME COOKED MEAL FOR DASSERA

fellow bloggers i would love to share my dassera day meal with you .everything is made at home.
The menu was.
chana masala
shevyachi kheer
varan i.e. dal
rice
chapati
banana and potato phodi or fritters
pickle
and spiced buttermilk (not in the photo)

dassera is a very auspicious day in the hindu calender . Its good to start something on such a day . so i start my theme with my dassera day home cooked thali or plate.
MY THEME IS..... "HOME COOKED MEALS"
I want to invite all my fellow bloggers to send me their links of home cooked thalis ie i want it to be the plate one uses at home and with all homemade dishes and you can specify whether you had it for lunch or dinner.
i objective to have such a theme is to know what is cooked in peoples homes . i feel each family have their unigue cooking style ,india being a country with diverse food cultures and rich heritage ,has a lot to offer. The lady of the house has her own unique way of cooking and even if two dishes are the same , with the same ingredients they will taste different and this, i am telling by experience and i am sure all of you will agree , hence i want to discover this exclusive style of cooking which are prevalent in each and every home.
i will be glad if my friends would share the recipes in the way they are exactly made.
by the medium of blogs we can sit at the dining tables of our friends and visually get the food experience . multiple entries are welcome.
i will link your entries to my post so that we can share it with all.
This is not only for my indian friends but for all who would like to share their home cooked meals with us so that we get a glimpse of your day to day food and life.

you can mail me at www.mahek_21@yahoo.com with the subject as HOMECOOKEDMEALS
pls send me your link so that i can display the link on my post for perusal.
