fellow bloggers i would love to share my dassera day meal with you .everything is made at home.
The menu was.
chana masala
shevyachi kheer
varan i.e. dal
rice
chapati
banana and potato phodi or fritters
pickle
and spiced buttermilk (not in the photo)
dassera is a very auspicious day in the hindu calender . Its good to start something on such a day . so i start my theme with my dassera day home cooked thali or plate.
MY THEME IS..... "HOME COOKED MEALS"
I want to invite all my fellow bloggers to send me their links of home cooked thalis ie i want it to be the plate one uses at home and with all homemade dishes and you can specify whether you had it for lunch or dinner.
i objective to have such a theme is to know what is cooked in peoples homes . i feel each family have their unigue cooking style ,india being a country with diverse food cultures and rich heritage ,has a lot to offer. The lady of the house has her own unique way of cooking and even if two dishes are the same , with the same ingredients they will taste different and this, i am telling by experience and i am sure all of you will agree , hence i want to discover this exclusive style of cooking which are prevalent in each and every home.
i will be glad if my friends would share the recipes in the way they are exactly made.
by the medium of blogs we can sit at the dining tables of our friends and visually get the food experience . multiple entries are welcome.
i will link your entries to my post so that we can share it with all.
This is not only for my indian friends but for all who would like to share their home cooked meals with us so that we get a glimpse of your day to day food and life.
you can mail me at www.mahek_21@yahoo.com with the subject as HOMECOOKEDMEALS
pls send me your link so that i can display the link on my post for perusal.

Hey Mahek....love this idea. sometimes we try so hard to present food beautifully that we forget the traditional ways of serving food...I will definitely be sending you my entry soon.
Cheers
PS - photo is excellent...the clarity is so good I can see the vermicelli in the kheer ;-)

Mahek, this is a great idea and your meal looks wonderful. Do you make your own chapati? Not living in an Indian neighborhood, I only get to eat it in a restaurant. I'd love to try to make it on my own. If only I had a recipe.
I'll be sending my entry along soon.
WOW!! That meal looks delicious, Mahek!! I will send you more of mine!! Not as good as you ,but something!!
First time here. You got a wonderful blog with so many authentic recipes. Seeing your plate reminds me of traditional indian weddings. You came up with nice thought and i will also surely participate.
